Ramón Díaz studied at the Centre for Musical Studies of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, his home town, and at the Taller de Músics of Barcelona. He has attended sSeminars with Billy Hart, Max Roach, John Abercrombie, Donald Harrison, Mulgrew Miller, Gal Harper, Richard Beirach, Trilok Gurtu, Peter Erskine and David Liebman.

His work in jazz groups in Barcelona includes such important names as Dave Schnitter, Jean Toussaint, Gerg Lyons, Jim Left, Joe Fonda, Tom Warner, Wayne Bachelot, Javier Colina, Ramón Cardo, Lluís Vidal, Chano Domínguez, Perico Sambeat, Ze Eduardo and Tom Guillion.
